GRENADA: About Grenada

Grenada, commonly referred to as The Spice Isle, bears this name not only because of its potency for producing exotic vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and ginger from its lush landscape, but also because of its rich and colorful, yet relaxed, way of life.

Grenada is located approximately 100 miles off the Western Coast of Barbados. Its capital, St. George’s, is known as the most picturesque city in the Caribbean with a horseshoe-shaped harbor and well-preserved examples of French and British Colonial architecture. Grenada offers some of the loveliest white-sand beaches, sparkling coves, vivid marine life, flourishing tropical forests, and diverse flora and fauna in the Caribbean.

Carriacou and Petit-Martinique, Grenada’s tiny north-eastern sister islands, present much of the same atmosphere and at an even more leisurely pace. With a mix of Scottish and African ancestry, these three Grenadine gems boast a wealth of historical attractions and cultural festivals.

The heart and soul of Grenada, of course, is its people. This friendly and lively population officially speaks English, but most Grenadians speak a Creole or English dialect - a subtle, but not unintelligible mixture of African, French, Spanish and English words. However a ready, welcoming smile is usually the first attempt at communication.

Come explore, enjoy and embrace the exceptional Grenadian experience!
