ST. KITTS: About St. Kitts
St. Kitts is a vista of rolling green hills and trade winds that banish humidity. It is an Island dotted with hibiscus, swaying royal palms and stunning black sand beaches. On this 68 square mile Caribbean gem, the people are laid back and politely friendly - perhaps it is reminiscent of their British heritage, of good manners and polite respect for others - but, more likely, it is the reflection of a gentle people who have a different order to their priorities. As a new Incentive destination, St. Kitts offers unique, safe and exciting alternative for your programs.
First named San Christobal by old Chrissy Columbus on that ill-fated voyage to the Indies, the twin-Island Federation of St. Christopher & Nevis has been independent since 1983. St. Kitts is less than a mile wide in some parts of the south with topography that is austere, mostly uninhabited and serene. In the north, the Island rises defiantly nearly 4000ft to the shattered peak of Mount Liamuiga - a dormant volcano camouflaged by the verdant greenery of a tropical rain forest.
40,000 folks call St. Kitts home, with Basseterre as its capital city. Here, commerce and industry abound! With awe inspiring structures such as Brimstone Hill Fortress, uncrowded beaches, a scenic railway, and diversions such as golf and tennis, St. Kitts is truly a small, sleepy slice of paradise!
