The birth of the St. Kitts Marriott Resort & Royal Beach Casino in Summer 2004, saw the creation of Sunlinc in St. Kitts, and the dawn of a new and exciting destination for Corporate and Incentive Travel.
As a new Incentive destination, St. Kitts offers somewhere unique, safe, exciting, different, laid back and to boot - a brand new luxury hotel with a name you know and trust. St. Kitts is a vista of rolling green hills and trade winds that banish humidity. It is an Island dotted with hibiscus, swaying royal palms and stunning black sand beaches. On this sleepy 68 square mile Caribbean gem, the people are laid back and politely friendly - perhaps it is reminiscent of their British heritage, of good manners and polite respect for others - but, more likely, it is the reflection of a gentle people who have a different order to their priorities.
First named San Christobal by old Chrissy Columbus on that ill-fated voyage to the Indies, the twin-Island Federation of St. Christopher & Nevis has been independent since 1983. St. Kitts is less than a mile wide in some parts of the south and the topography of the island rips from austere, mostly uninhabited, Nevada-like conditions. In the north, the Island rises defiantly nearly 4000ft to the shattered peak of Mount Liamuiga - a dormant volcano camouflaged by the lush verdant green of a tropical rain forest.
40,000 folks call St. Kitts home, with Basseterre as it's capital city. Here, commerce and industry abound!
Life has not been easy for this ex-British colony, yet there are many blessings. Kittitians pay no personal income tax, for instance. They enjoy stable government from an elected parliament, whose members are accessible daily to the ordinary person in the street. Kittitians have a good hospital and ambulance service. Children go to school and learn to read and write almost as soon as they learn to walk and the literacy rate is extremely high. There is a healthy climate for foreign investment and many incentives for you to bring your money and business here. Most importantly, even if they may not be au fait with the latest in trends and technology, there is a willingness to learn and understand.
With awe inspiring structures such as Brimstone Hill Fortress, uncrowded beaches, a scenic railway, and diversions such as golf and tennis, St. Kitts is truly a small, sleepy slice of paradise!
